This post is a prayer request and a reflection.
Tonight, tomorrow night and Thursday morning I’m leading worship for a conference at Asbury. The conference is centered around the pursuit of holiness and the movement of the Holy Spirit. I ask that you pray for me as I do so; the movement we hope to see, even cry out to see, is one I hope to submit to and not resist or hinder.
My friend JD asked a very pointed question to the student body as we began chapel today. As we quieted our hearts to listen, he asked us:
“Do you really desire to be made holy?”
As our small group prayed in light of this, one member of our group says this:
“So many times in my life, I’ve answered this question like Augustine did:
‘Yes, but not yet’.”
That phrase keeps turning in my heart. The biggest obstacle to my heart being purified could be my own unwillingness to be made pure.
Pray for us at Asbury these next few nights, and ask yourself the question above. Let me know how I can pray for you.
