The integration of hip-hop and faith has come a long way from when I was young. Last month I played a worship set with Brent Foley in Louisville; we opened for Flame, a hip-hop artist whose songs function like club anthems and a strange form of urban catechesis at the same time. The majority of faith-based hip-hopsters that are making waves in christendom are highly reformed, and are using their platform to bring theology into the vocabulary and worldview of their audiences. The link above is the Catholic take on the same idea: using hip-hop as a vehicle for shaping a more Christian worldview in the listener. You can stream the albums for free there; all of the albums are also available at iTunes, Amazon, and Bandcamp.
