Yesterday, I installed a new ring tone on my cell phone: the “you-guessed-the-wrong-price-and-you-get-nothing” horns from The Price is Right. You know- the one where the tuba place the bom-bom-ba-bom and the the trombones do that atonal smear/fall. Now it is the tone that plays when I get a text message.
I don’t mind getting text messages all that much, but I figured it’d be an awesome sound effect to have if/when some sends me a message, and that it’d even get a laugh or two.
What I didn’t anticipate, however, was it going off at an inappropriate/inopportune moment so quickly…
Yesterday, my dad was telling my brother and I about a family friend who had been diagnosed with nerve disorder. As he shared the details with Josh and I, I received a text message:
bom-bom-ba-bom (trombone smear)
I lost it, as did Josh, and eventually my dad did as well. Such a bad moment for that sound. But so funny.
